It was another memorable night as guests travelled around the city visiting restaurants in downtown Vancouver, Kitsilano, Strathcona and East Van tasting many different types of dumplings. This Dumpling Fest was held on January 18th and presented by Vancouver Foodster and Tasting Plates. The evening tasting tour provided guests a chance to try many different types of dumplings from a select number of different cultures including Shanghainese, Northern Vietnamese, Syrian and Mediterranean, Global fusion and featured a dessert stop as well.
At Z & W Shanghai Kitchen served a selection of Shanghainese dumplings, Vegetable & Meat Dumpling Soup, Spicy Dumpling, Pan-fried Dumpling, and for dessert a Sweet dumpling.
they paired it up with a Russel Beer tasting of their Lemon Raz Radler.
At Lemon Fusion Kitchen served their Global Fusion specialties Hong Kong style Schezwan Momo, Afghani Momo, American chop suey and for dessert a Shahi D Tukda (fried bread dipped in sugar syrup, with sweetened flavoured milk pudding)
At Crab Hot Lau served the Northern Vietnamese specialities; Pillow Cakes (bánh gối) and CRAB Square Rolls (Nem cua biển)
At Arabesque Café and Bakery they served a plate featuring their Spinach Fatayer, Dolhma, Mihshi and other Syrian and Mediterranean dumplings.
At Hype Chocolate they served a very creative Hype Chocolate Dumpling Ice Cream Sundae with a house-made cherry sauce, vanilla ice cream, steamed dumpling filled with chocolate ganache and five spice, topped with shaved dark chocolate.
