Tweet Join us and tantalize your taste buds at several restaurants in downtown Vancouver and beyond! This 7th annual noodle tasting extravaganza is presented by Vancouver Foodster and Tasting Plates. Each restaurant will be serving up Tasting Bowls or Plates for guests to enjoy and you will have a chance to visit many different types of restaurants throughout the event, meet some new food loving friends, meet the chefs, and learn about each of the participating restaurants. You may have a chance to taste all sorts of noodles from chow mein to spaghetti to pho, pad thai, ramen and more. Touring many ethnic eateries and tasting noodle dishes including Chinese, Filipino, Hong Kong, Indian, Italian, Southern, Taiwanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and more. Tweet We held our first Curry Fest around downtown Vancouver on November 13th, the evening tasting tour provided guests a chance to try many different types of curries from a select number of different cultures including Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and South Indian. We kicked off the event at Davie Dosa Company where everyone registered before heading off on their self-guided tasting adventure. At Davie Dosa Company in the Westend they featured their South Indian style Slow cooked lamb with Rich Traditional Indian spices and herbs curry, finished with virgin coconut meat, ”Papaver Bracteamtum” silky paste. Served with Vegetable Pilaf cooked in coconut stock and spices. At House Special in Yaletown it was about Vietnamese where they served their Monk’s Kabocha Curry, roasted seasonal veg, chili oil, Vietnamese herb puree with torn bread and Curry mushroom fried rice Arancini. At Indian Delicacy in Coal Harbour they served traditional Indian curries featuring their Methi Chicken cooked with garlic & dry fenugreek leaves, and Chana Masala Garbanzo (chick peas) beans cooked with fresh onions, ginger and spices, both served with rice and garlic naan. At Bob Pochana in the Westend it was all about Thai where they served their Green Curry Chicken coconut milk based green curry with chicken, basil, eggplant and bamboo shoots and their Panang Beef coconut milk based panang curry with beef, basil and bell peppers top with Kafir lime leaf, both served with jasmin rice. Tweet We held our second Dumpling Fest around Vancouver on November 6th, the evening tasting tour provided guests a chance to try many different types of dumplings from a select number of different cultures including Mexican, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Russian, and Vietnamese. We kicked off the event at Sprezzatura on Kingsway where everyone registered and tasted some ‘deconstructed spring roll” canapes before heading off on their self-guided tasting adventure. At MixxBao in the South Granville neighbourhood they served up their Taiwanese style Chili Oil Wontons and Wonton Soup. At Maizal they served up their Mexican Empanada duo of Blue corn chorizo & potato empanada and Yellow corn zucchini mushroom and cheese empanada At Hey Dumplings! Chef Heather served up her Russian style dumplings featuring the tasty Potato dumplings in a creamy dill sauce, they also served their Spicy ginger scallion dumplings to guests. At Do Chay Saigon Vegetarian they served their plantbased Vietnamese style trio of dumplings featuring the XO Potstickers – pan fried homemade potstickers stuffed with vegan mushroom XO sauce. Served with sesame soya sauce; Glass Dumplings – Tapioca mung bean, mushroom, and jicama dumplings wrapped in banana leaf and served with peanut and ish sauce; and Sticky Rice Wontons – Traditional mushroom and tofu soya sticky rice wrapped in wonton and served with scallion sauce.
